Annehurst Village Garden Club was established in May 1966 to encourage interest in all phases of home gardening, promote community learning of gardening and to aid in civic planning and beautification.
Meetings are held in member’s homes on the third Thursday of the month from September through May. During meetings, guest speakers share gardening knowledge and members share gardening camaraderie. The summer months tend to involve field trips and member garden tours. Membership is open to all residents of the area bounded by Sharon Woods Metro Park on the South, Cleveland Avenue on the East, Hanawalt Road on the north and I-71 on the west.
Currently, club projects include maintaining plantings around the Annehurst School sign, annually planting & maintaining the Pool Garden & planters at the Annehurst Pool & volunteering for Plant Westerville Day. In 2008 we partnered with Annehurst School to build a Rain Garden in the front traffic circle and currently maintain it with help from students in a Youth Garden Club which we sponsor at the school. Plans are underway for a second Rain Garden to be planted with the students in the fall of 2010.
