HO, ho, ho . . . Santa is coming to Annehurst December 7, 2019

Mark your calendars for the annual visit from Santa held in
conjunction with the official lighting of the “Dazzling Christmas Lights” at the home of “Mr Christmas.”

This annual event is sponsored by the Annehurst Village Residents
Association and features crafts for the kids, hot chocolate, cookies
from Schneider’s Bakery, and popcorn provided by Roush Hardware.
The Westerville Fire Department usually makes an appearance and
sometimes gives Santa a lift to the event because there is better
parking for reindeer at the fire station.
A photo backdrop will be setup for you to take photos with Santa.
Your donation of canned food for WARM would be appreciated in
exchange your opportunity to take a photo with Santa. While there,
Santa will pick up any letters from his own personal mailbox.
Date: December 7, 2019
• 649 Old Coach Road
• Time: 6:00 p.m. (Santa arrives around 6:30)

We are need of volunteers to help supervise the kid’s crafts, make
popcorn, and serve the hot chocolate. If you can help make this
year’s event a success, text Karen Spiller at 614-570-2964 or email
kspiller904@gmail.com.
A special thanks to Santa, Mr. and Mrs. Christmas, the Westerville
police and fire departments, Roush Hardware, and WARM!

Doing Spring Home Improvements??? Check with the City of Westerville about permits.

Spring has arrived and with it a list of home improvements for many residents. Homeowners wishing to convert electric furnaces, hot water tanks, kitchen ranges, or other electric appliances to propane fueled appliances should remember to first obtain a permit from the City of Westerville before proceeding with the proposed work.  Whether using natural gas (NG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) such as propane, it is critically important to ensure the new gas piping systems and appliances are installed correctly and safely.

The permit process ensures compliance with the Ohio Fire Code and the Residential Code of Ohio.  In addition to regulating the new gas piping and appliances, these codes regulate the location and placement of the exterior storage tanks. Depending upon the size of the storage tanks, there are various setback requirements from your dwelling unit and the adjacent neighboring properties that must be adhered to.  In summary the permit and inspection process is a mechanism to ensure your new gas piping systems and appliances are installed correctly, ensuring the safety of your family.

Please see this link for additional information about what type of work requires a building permit.  For questions or to apply for a permit, please contact the Westerville Building Division at (614) 901-6650 or edward.ungar@westerville.org.  You can also visit us in person at 64 East Walnut Street.
